Building: Constructed from 1771 to 1773 under the direction of Jacques-Germain Soufflot, Royal Buildings Controller.
Current Use: Presidency of the Universities Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and Paris Panthéon-Assas, hosting lecture rooms and class rooms for law degrees conferred by these two universities.
Events: Welcome cocktail in the former dean's apartment and/or in the courtyard.
The Faculty of Law in Paris dates back to the 12th century, originally named "Faculty of Decree," part of the University of Paris. It became the "Faculty of Civil and Canonical Law" in 1679. Initially located in the Sorbonne buildings, it was moved to the Panthéon Centre in the 18th century.
